2018 SGA International Draws & Results

SGA_International_150_logo.jpg

Through our partnership with Golf Savers, Social Golf Australia (SGA) hosts one event each year outside Australia: The SGA International. The event was played for the first time in Pattaya, Thailand in March 2012 and was SGA's first annual international event. An SGA representative attends and hosts the event each year and this event has now developed into a great tournament that is a highlight of our annual event schedule. The 2017 SGA International is a 72-hole stableford event held at four of the leading golf courses in Pattaya.

Round 1 will be held at the Khao Kheow Golf Club designed by the great Pete Dye and a course that features elevation changes between holes and superb playing surfaces. For Round 2 we head to one of the premier golf precincts in South East Asia and play the Plantation Course at Siam Country Club. Round three is at the magnificent Old Course at Siam Country Club that hosted the LPGA’s Honda Classic tournament the week before our arrival. Rund four is at the stunning, Jack Nicklaus designed Laem Chabang International Golf Resort.

On each competition day there are awards for the winners and runners-up for both A & B grade, while the overall SGA International title iss awarded to the player who has the best 72-hole stableford score over the four tournament rounds.

Day 3 - Monday March 5, 2018

First Round - Khao Kheow Golf Club

Set in a valley, this course features elevation changes between holes and provides a great contrast to some of the other courses in the region. Typical of Pete Dye’s design style, careful shot-making is required to navigate the cooling breeze that sweeps through the valley and the numerous large ponds, bunkers and hills that surround the well-manicured fairways. Many greens are undulating which makes precise putting a key to scoring well. Khao Kheow Country Club’s special emphasis on green maintenance insures high quality putting surfaces year-round.

Day 4 - Tuesday March 6, 2018

Second Round - Siam Country Club, Plantation Course

This course was designed by the well-known Arizona-based, Schmidt & Curley Design Inc and opened in March 2008. This was the 2nd Siam CC course completed and is a 27-hole layout. The Plantation name was given in the honour of the historic Sugar Cane, Tapioca and Pineapple plantations in the area with each set of 9-holes is named accordingly. Siam CC has since built the Waterside Course so the facility features three magnificent courses and there is a 4th course being planned.

Day 5 - Wednesday March 7, 2018

Free Day - Optional Round at Royal Gems Dream Arena.

This incredible golfing mecca is a replica golf course. The front 9 features nine of the great golf holes of the world such as the Road Hole, the Church Pews & the Postage Stamp. The second 9 is a replica of the back nine at Augusta National Golf Club – home of the US Masters. We have limited tee times so we are making them available as an Early Bird booking offer – pay your $500 deposit by October 30 and get the first option at booking a round on this very exclusive golf course for a once in a lifetime golfing experience.

Day 6 - Thursday March 8, 2018

Third Round - Siam Country Club, Old Course

Siam Country Club - Old Course. This course was the first privately-owned course in Thailand and has been the host of the LPGA’s Honda Classic since 2007. A course sharing its terrain with fruit trees, creeks, lakes and 101 sand traps ready to snatch up an errant shot, it is always a great test of golf. One of the highest-ranked golf courses in Asia, this magnificent 18 hole layout is always very popular with our golfers.

Day 7 - Friday March 9, 2018

Fourth Round - Laem Chabang International Country Club

Laem Chabang was designed by the great Jack Nicklaus and features 27-holes with three very distinct 9-hole layouts. The Mountain Nine, the Lake Nine and the Valley Nine offer three superb golfing experiences and some of the most stunning views you will see on a golf course. A true golfers’ course that has hosted over a dozen professional events in the past 20 years, it has been a staple at the SGA International.

Day 8 - Saturday March 10, 2018
