River Kwai Golf

The 2018 SGA River Kwai Golf Week (Feb 25 – Mar 3) – Kanchanaburi, Thailand

SGA is pleased to announce a new event in Thailand – The SGA River Kwai Golf Week. We have designed this week as an opportunity for golfers to share with their non-golfing partners. It features three rounds of golf and options to experience some of the cutural activities that Thailand is known for. Held prior to the annual SGA International in Pattaya, the River Kwai package is targeted at golfers looking for a new and exciting expeience in the perfect location for a couple’s holiday. The U-Inchantree Resort on the banks of The River Kwai is perfect for rest and relaxation and Kanchanaburi’s location at the edge of a mountain range keeps it much cooler than some of the more tropical destinations in Thailand.

The River Kwai Golf Week is not a tournament with formal scoring, trophies and prizes, but a chance to enjoy three (or more) spectacular rounds of golf in a social setting with friends in a beautiful location. We have rounds golf included in the package on Monday, Wednesday and Friday with the option to play addditional rounds on the Tuesday and Thursday or to join in the local tourism options we have planned as optional extras. The week is as much about local culture as it is about golf, with many tourist attractions not commonly seen in the more populous areas of Thailand.

Kanchanaburi also has a very strong historical and cultural connection with Australia. During the Second World War, Australian POWs contributed to the construction of the Thai-Burma Railway. The infamous Hellfire Pass, the deepest and most dramatic of the many cuttings along the Thai–Burma railway is near Kanchanaburi. The bridge spanning the river was also constructed with the help of Australian troops – famously immortalised in the 1957 David Lean film The Bridge On The River Kwai. Along with the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum and numerous Buddhist temples, the floating markets on the river is among the must-see attractions in Kanchanaburi.

Elephants World is a sanctuary for sick, old, disabled, abused and rescued elephants, often saved from cruel ‘trekking camps’ where the animals were overworked, underfed and mistreated. Visitors to the sanctuary have the privilege of assisting with gathering food, feeding and bathing these majestic animals. Includes lunch and transfers. Price - $120

Round of Golf - Grand Prix Golf Club

Grand Prix Golf Club is a stunning golf course that will take your breath away. The course is set in a vast open space with panoramic views of Burmese mountain ranges in the distance. A large river bisects the course and adds to the native scenery. Grand Prix makes excellent use of significant mounding and undulations through the fairways and greens and many holes have split fairways offering golfers both a more challenging and a relaxing approach to the multi-tiered greens.
