What past players have said:

It was a great experience, especially as a first-timer. Great people, very relaxed and inclusive atmosphere, and fantastic golf. Just what I hoped for.

David - 2022 Event

"I wanted to personally thank you all for a great week. As always, from a customers point of view, everything was fantastic and seamless - no doubt due to the efforts behind the scenes. I keep saying it, but this is a slick operation from a great group of folks. Looking forward to my next event with SGA."

Shannan - New South Wales

The work that goes in behind the scenes to make this event run so smoothly must be huge. But it is really appreciated. It’s great to just turn up and have everything organised for you. It’s a great well organised event playing nice courses with great people.

Nathan - 2022 Competitor

Good times even if your golf swing deserts you. Lots friendships made and lots of fun and laughter.

"I can't believe how good the event is for the price. We got great service from all the staff and always with a smile. My clubs are always waiting for me at each course and I get to play with someone different each round."

Steve - South Australia

The SGA Championships on the Gold Coast is the most well-organised golf trip we have been on. The SGA staff are all excellent communicators, loads of fun and they are with you all the way through. The bus transfers are well worth the extra money and not having to worry about our golf clubs for the whole week was a blessing. The Courses were challenging but beautifully maintained and provided some spectacular scenery. It was a pleasure to meet so many terrific people from all over Australia and NZ.

Sue - NZ

History of the SGA Championships

THE BEGINNING - ASGCC

Founded in 2005 as The Australian Social Golf Club Championships (ASGCC) at Palm Meadows on the Gold Coast, the SGA Championships has attracted social golfers from around Australia every August to compete for the national title.

The event was originally a five-day (practice round & 72-holes) stand-alone event for players representing their social golf clubs. In 2006, the event became a 54-hole tournament and in 2008 the event expanded to be played over three courses for the first time, with Sanctuary Cove and Royal Pines added to the roster. As the foundation course, Palm Meadows remained as the host for the final round of the Championships. In 2009, two new courses were added to the roster: the highly-rated Lakelands and Robina Woods.

THE SGA YEARS

In 2009, Social Golf Australia assumed management of the event in partnership with Event HQ and Palm Meadows. In 2013, The Glades was included and the event returned to a 72-hole tournament with a rest day introduced between the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

2016 saw SGA re-brand the event as The SGA Championships. The same year we were pleased to welcome Srixon and Cleveland Golf as our equipment partners and in 2017 we commenced with Garmin as our technology partner and one of the major sponsors of the tournament.

Each year has seen significant growth for the event and, with the exception of a Covid-19-reduced field, it has seen full fields and hundreds of happy golfers every year!
